As a Marketing Coordinator at Connect 4 Marketing, I have had the incredible opportunity to embark on a journey of creativity and growth. My name is Karen Tuffaha, an international student studying Business Administration in Canada. I have grown passionate about marketing; in fact, my interest initially derived from my own experience as a consumer.

I’ve constantly found myself drawn to certain brands, advertisements, and online campaigns, especially the humorous marketing campaigns that companies such as Duolingo adopt on their social media. This fascination made me want to analyze and understand the strategies behind those marketing efforts, which ultimately led me to delve into social media marketing.

Throughout my journey into the field of my interest, I came across Connect4Marketing – a digital marketing agency with one goal in mind: "Your growth." The agency’s mission stuck out to me and inspired me to apply. I knew it was immediately the perfect fit for me as it aligned with my personal and professional goals.

One of the standout aspects of my internship at Connect 4 Marketing is the work-friendly environment. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported. Despite being a remote company, Carlos Vargas, the founder, goes above and beyond to foster a close-knit community.

He has traveled to meet the team in person, reflecting on his commitment to creating a positive work atmosphere. Working in such a friendly environment has made every day enjoyable and motivating. The team is always ready to lend a helping hand or offer guidance whenever needed. This not only enhances productivity but also encourages personal and professional self-growth. 

Connect 4 Marketing has inspired a team effort to value innovation and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. This freedom has given me the confidence to take risks and explore new ideas with my content creation.

Acquiring Projects & reaching milestones

One of the highlights of my internship is the incredible opportunities to work on major projects with clients such as Doré Copper Mining & MI3 Communications allowing me to expand my expertise in the field.

Along with working on their content creation and graphics, engaging in these projects has also provided me with valuable insights into effectively targeting audiences on Twitter. This strategic approach has yielded significant success, evident from the impressive milestone of surpassing 25,000 views on their posts.

space for creativity

One of my favorite aspects of this company is the space they give me for creativity on all their platforms. Whether it's creating content briefs or searching for viral trends to implement, I am constantly inspired by the freedom to experiment and push boundaries.
 
In fact, one of my most memorable projects was finding a creative way to promote our new threads account. Our humorous and fun tone on threads allowed me to use Michael Scott as the perfect advocate to boost our account’s following!

It's truly a place where interns like me can unleash their full potential and make a meaningful impact.

My learnings

During my time here, I have had the opportunity to learn and use various platforms that have been instrumental in my content creation journey.

I’ve learned how to use Illustrator and Photoshop for creating graphics, Premiere Pro for editing videos, and more software that has generated results that satisfied clients. These platforms have been essential in creating high-quality content for Connect 4 Marketing's clients and internal socials.

My mentorship experience

At the heart of my growth journey was Connect 4 Marketing’s Founder- Carlos Vargas, a proven exceptional mentor. Carlos constantly shares his knowledge and insights, providing me with valuable feedback on my work. This guidance has not only helped me improve my skills but has also given me the confidence to take on new challenges.

One aspect that stands out about Carlos as a mentor is his commitment to my professional growth. He encourages me to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of creativity. He provides valuable feedback as well as recognizes and celebrates my achievements, creating a supportive environment that fosters both learning and innovation.

Lastly, these are my tips on how to thrive in a remote position.

Many have experienced lack of motivation and challenges while taking on remote positions; however, to thrive within these positions and opportunities, I learned key valuable lessons that I recommend following:

• Build Connections: Despite the physical distance, fostering connections with the team is essential. Connect with your team on Slack, LinkedIn, and all social media platforms. Be proactive!
  

• Curiosity Fuels Growth: Don't hesitate to ask questions; It's crucial to clarify tasks and expectations to ensure you're on the right track.
• Daily Meetings: Daily meetings allow you to touch base, discuss ongoing projects, and address any challenges or concerns that may arise.
• Don’t fear failure in projects; embrace it. Criticism and feedback are essential for your professional development and company growth. In fact, actively seek challenging tasks to enhance your skills—we all start somewhere in our journey.
